Teaching is an art to me. Teaching and learning are components of a creative and artistic performance. Every teacher has a different approach to convey knowledge to their students. I believe teaching means I delegate the responsibility to my students and, in return, they give me their trust. I also believe every child has the potential to become an artist. Therefore, as an art teacher I strive to help my students to explore and develop their creativity, their imagination, and belief in themselves to create works of art.
My educational philosophy is to ensure that my students will be treated as individuals, given due respect, and will learn to respect the views of their peers. I will take note that each student is a unique learner who deserves love, attention, and respect. Moreover, my teaching will be student-centered as the teacher is only the facilitator. I believe that students learn in a community by interacting and collaborating with each other as the idea of progressivism. I will make sure that my students understand and internalize the knowledge gained in class, otherwise such knowledge will neither be meaningful nor of applicability in their real lives. Moreover, I will encourage and show students that asking questions is fine and being curious is the best way to learn. I do enjoy teaching and I do enjoy being in the classroom watching students gain confidence. The teaching atmosphere I want to create is a welcoming community where people can sit down and do their artworks comfortably and confidently. Furthermore, I also want to accommodate different learning styles in my classes to guarantee that my students can understand the material courses and resources to create their artworks most successfully. I will show them how to develop their ideas in different ways. They can sketch, draw or make paper models to express their ideas. I lead students through exercises that involve both practices with their minds and hands. As an educator, my mission is to inculcate the love of learning in my students so that learning becomes a lifelong process. When the students are empowered by knowledge, they can make informed decisions about what they want to achieve in life and how to excel in their chosen path. When my students are passionate about gaining meaningful knowledge and applying it in their lives, I have made a difference. |
